Missing Pets
Help and Resources for Lost/Missing Pets
If your pet goes missing, acting quickly and systematically is crucial. Here is some important advice to follow:
· Post posters everywhere. Ideally include a reward, but even without one, posters are essential. Place them widely—at local stores, vet clinics, businesses, and in residential areas.
· Place small posters in mailboxes throughout the neighborhood.
· Report your missing pet to all shelters you can think of, both nearby and in surrounding areas, as pets can travel farther than you might expect.
· Keep checking shelters in person and by phone regularly. Persistence is key.
· Put out food and water in case your pet is nearby.
· Post your missing pet on the Animal Alert Services below.
· Including a reward can greatly increase the chance of a successful recovery.
· Organize searches with friends, neighbors, and community members. Regularly search the area, note sightings, and try to narrow down where your pet might be.
· Post on all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) and encourage sharing widely.
· Check online classifieds and lost & found posts, such as Craigslist or Facebook groups, in case someone has found your pet.
· Never give up. Continuously following these steps significantly increases your chances of finding your pet.
